F2V Artist Tracks Added

We just uploaded 4 new songs to the audio player!

I’m ultra excited about seeing Sara Scare, featuring Levi from Spit for Athena, after hearing the phenomenal track “Valentines Day.”  We also posted a track from Cemetery Improvement Society from Wisconsin, a live recording from our band, Charles the Osprey, from last year’s Fes2val, recorded by the dudes from 13 Day Mission & HiJacking Music (http://www.oteampress.com/ozonelair/) and finally a track from returning duo, Tahquamenon Falls.

We’ll have more soon in the audio player in the left bar…Enjoy!

When & Where + Headliners

Alright, everyone, we set the date for FES2VAL 2009 at August 29th.  So be there.

And where will you be?  The Gillette Bridge, a pedestrian bridge that runs behind DeVos Place and right into Ah Nab Awen park.

My other decision to be made has to be what to do about a headliner.  Most of the obvious ones have been unavailable (or waaaaay too expensive), but I’m still digging at it, cause it’s very important to me to get one this year.

In other news, Chris is working on the design for this year, and so far what he’s sent me is friggin HOT, so I look forward to unveiling that in poster/handout/ad form.

If you didn’t catch that I posted the photos from last year, you gotta check em out.  Thanks to Paul Carlson and Katy Batdorff for their amazing work.

TwitterFeed Test

I just stepped into the present with sending this blog to our Twitter account, just to see how many different ways we can annoy you.  This post will serve as a way of testing that I’m not an idiot and set it up properly… we shall see.

Fes2val Preview Show

So Raf & I booked a show at the Dog Story Theater on Sunday, May 17, and we’re thinking of just getting a couple kegs, a couple 2-man bands, and making it sort of a Fes2val preview / fundraiser so we can really start thinking about headliners.  Keep an eye out on all those social networks for more info as we get closer.

Meeting with the City

On Friday, at 1:30pm, I will meet with Todd Tofferi of the Office of Film, Music and Special Events for the City of Grand Rapids, whom I worked with last year, and had suggested the wonderful Blue Bridge location.  His suggestion this year is the Calder Plaza, which is pretty awesome, and hopefully a little more central a location for people.

I’ll also be speaking with the Grand Rapids Jaycees about sponsoring the Beer Tent again this year.

My next step will be to secure sponsors, get a date on the books and start booking the bands.

I’ve met several people in the last few weeks that really want to help out, and I really appreciate that and will hopefully be able to utilize the vast amount of talent in this town to really put something special on this year.

Scouting

Because we have been exiled from the beautiful Blue Bridge, we must scoure our city and riverbanks for a new suitable home for the 2009 FES2VAL.   I keep getting suggestions like Rosa Parks Circle or Founders, but those ideas are far from the ideals upon which we built this annual event.  We need to find a venue that is not a venue at all; that was not meant for what we are hosting, but that can handle the event in capacity and power usage.

If the snow ever clears, You’ll see me walking the streets of Grand Rapids trying to convince different property owners to let us invade their space with an army of duos and fans of such paired persuasion.  If you have suggestions, feel free to contact me so that I may add it to the list of potentials.
