About
FES2VAL is the brainchild of Charles the Osprey, more formally Derek Lancioni and Rafael Ohli, who had the idea to host something more exciting and innovative in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, while at the same time highlighting the city’s most prominent feature – the Grand River. Recruiting only 2-piece bands for the event, FES2VAL premiered in 2008.
On September 27, 2008, with the much-appreciated assistance of 13 hard-working duos, and a staff of fantastic friends and family, Derek & Raf owned the Blue Pedestrian Bridge for 9 hours on a hot sunny day. Despite a few bands bailing on the event, the day went off without much of a hitch, save the complaints coming from the residents of the Plaza Towers Condos.
Those complaints caused FES2VAL 08 to be the first and only amplified event on that bridge. 2009 brings us to a new bridge, mere blocks from the other bridge, and anyone who may be bothered.
