Another Year Down

It’s sunny and 70 degrees today, Tuesday, September 1st, and we can’t help thinking how awesome it would have been to have this weather this past Saturday… Instead, we had a drizzly, cold and cloudy day for the most part, but there were some SERIOUSLY tough mothers out on that bridge, drinking and having a great time watching sweet bands on a bridge.

If you happened to be one of the sissies to not venture out on Saturday, there are plenty of pictures all over Facebook from Nicole Larae, Jenny Armstrong, Evan Rosendahl, and soon we’ll post the official pictures from Paul Carlson Photography.

Thank you to everyone who did make it out to support the bands that travelled so far this year to play for you, and for supporting future years of Fes2val, as well as helping the GR Jaycees raise some money through beer sales!

We’ll be in the planning stages of next year’s event starting NOW, and hope to be back next year bigger and better than ever.

Rain or Shine

Heading out to get tents today, just in case, but it’s looking like just a couple passing drizzles through the day, but mostly sunny all day!!  Everything is still a go, so don’t let the weather scare you away!

Rapid Growth Media

Rapid Growth is one of those groups that is simply dedicated to helping Grand Rapids thrive as an interesting city. Their dedication to covering the arts and events in our city, and displaying it in such a logical and hip way on their website really makes them stand out as a positively indispensible group in GR.

Tommy Allen of Rapid Growth Media was kind enough to contact me and compile this fantastic little blurb promoting our event – click here to read it!

100% Chance of Some Kind of Weather

So, depending on your news source, rain is somewhere between 20% and 70% likely at some point on Saturday, but most likely just in the morning before the event. Either way, if it were to rain a little bit, no one’s gonna melt. It’s not like there’s thunderstorms with hail and all that, it’ll just be a little bit of drizzle to cool everyone down.

Our point being, don’t let the forecast scare you away. It’s gonna be a beautiful day, and rain or shine, we’ll be drinkin and rockin on a bridge!!

ArtLife Interview

We were fortunate enough to have Jake Sebastian from ArtLife, a new show on 1680 AM WPRR, interview us for one of his segments. It’s a great show that we think will be important to the arts community in GR, and very happy to be a part of it. It will run today at 12noon and 11pm on the air, but we got our own copy, so you can listen below as well!

Couple weeks…

Well, here we are, a mere 11 days out, and things are really shaping up.  The insurance has been purchased, the beer ordered, the layout all set, and the bands all confirmed.  SO EXCITED!!

Last week, we interviewed with Rachael Recker from the GR Press and Jake Sebastian from ArtLife (radio show on 1680am) so those will be coming out next week (GR Press on Thursday, in the weekend section, ArtLife I think is on Friday…I’ll look into that…).  Hopefully we also make Gonzo’s top 5 this year!! We were #5 last year, maybe we can move up the ranks!  If you’re on Twitter, let him know that you want us on the Top Five!  His name is @GRGonzo

We also took some photos on the bridge yesterday with Katy Batdorff (also known in the Roller Girl circles as Shutter Speed!) to accompany the GR Press article.  She’s a fantastic photographer, and provided some of the photos from last year’s event.  Check out her work at http://katybatdorff.blogspot.com/ and be amazed.

Lastly, we’ll be trying to get a Bottom 40 after party going on, if we can get a polish hall or something to host it in.  I want to make sure there’s somewhere for the bands to mingle and relax after the show, rather than having to pack up and go home right away.  Let us know if you have ideas or a hookup at a hall!!

For the next week, we’ll just be sweatin’ the details and hoping you all can make it out for our drink-on-a-bridge party!!!

Gettin’ Legal

Yesterday I hit the streets of Grand Rapids to get signatures from all appropriate entities that may want to shut us down again this year.  They were all so gracious, and excited to have a different kind of event downtown, and that really made me happy.  We informed and got approval from the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, the J.W. Marriott, DeVos Place and Performance Hall, and the Gerald R. Ford Museum.

Today, I got the application filled out, am hoping to hear from the city about a power walk-through, heard the insurance is getting sent in through the Grand Rapids Jaycees (who are an awesome help, by the way) and got the final proofs from Chris for the poster and flyer.

We’re just a month away, and things are really coming together!!

F2V Artist Tracks Added

We just uploaded 4 new songs to the audio player!

I’m ultra excited about seeing Sara Scare, featuring Levi from Spit for Athena, after hearing the phenomenal track “Valentines Day.”  We also posted a track from Cemetery Improvement Society from Wisconsin, a live recording from our band, Charles the Osprey, from last year’s Fes2val, recorded by the dudes from 13 Day Mission & HiJacking Music (http://www.oteampress.com/ozonelair/) and finally a track from returning duo, Tahquamenon Falls.

We’ll have more soon in the audio player in the left bar…Enjoy!
